Yes, light touch editing exists!
“Can you use a “light touch” when you edit this?” I get this question frequently. The answer is YES! ABSOLUTLEY!!
In a light touch edit, the editor uses as light a touch as possible when working with a text. There are many reasons people may request this, and it may vary from project to project.
Sometimes, we want an editor to dig deep and teach us everything they know to make a piece better. At other times, we want them to handle a piece with kid gloves, querying only if something is wrong or unclear.
Both of these types of edits are absolutely fine! When you work with an editor, be sure to let them know exactly what you want. Generally speaking, they will be more than happy to accommodate.
